One the Day I Was Born

The rules are to go to Wikipedia.com and type in your birthday month and day only. Then post 3 events, 2 births and one holiday that occurred on your birthday, then tag 5 friends....

I pass on the tagging just cause I'm such a rebel... heheheh. But as per other meme's (translates into "me-me", selfish little thing) out there I've seen, I'd like to know the "who" "what" and "when" for my birthday, which by the by is Valentine's Day... blush - Explains why I'm such a 'sweetheart' hey... Hey its my fantasy! LOL

Back to the meme - cause its all about meme Not Mimi, but meme..

HOLIDAY
February 14 is internationally known as Valentine's Day, named after the Saint Valentinus of Terni, in Italy, executed in 273.

EVENTS
1779 - James Cook was killed by Native Hawaiians near Kealakekua on the Island of Hawaii.

1895 - First performance of Oscar Wilde's last play The Importance of Being Earnest at the St James's Theatre in London. (Love, love, love this play!)

1966 - Australian currency is decimalised. (The year and day I was born, kinda cool)

(plus who can forget...
1929 - St. Valentine's Day Massacre: Seven gangster rivals of Al Capone's gang are murdered in Chicago, Illinois.)

BIRTHS
1960 - Meg Tilly, Canadian actress (she's Canadian, eh, and sister-in-law to Chucky)

1972 - Rob Thomas, American musician (Matchbox Twenty)

1945 - Hans-Adam II, Prince of Liechtenstein (like as in A Knight's Tale - Sir William Thatcher/Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein of Gelderland!?.... I know its not real, but this is another one of those "panned" movies I adored.)

I hate spiders...

You wouldn't know it by some of the photos I taken though. Must be a love hate thing. A couple of years back when we were in Ladysmith I shot this "cutie" after his demise in a backyard swimming pool. Thank the good Lord for the macro setting on my camera, that's all I gotta say. Click if you dare.... ew.

I don't mind spiders with long legs... They remind me of Charlotte... (Insert tears here.) So sweet....

But! Its the really wierd looking ones with big abdomens and... clear... bodies... that make me yak. Last weekend end at the Lake, I went on a shooting spree. This was one of my "best"....

The things we love to hate...

My first "Sweater"...

So... What do you do with two balls of craft yarn you buy at the dollar store?
Make a sweater, of course!

The boy has a Webkinz stuffy he named Pugsly Elflato. Poor thing, he looked cold. He needed a doggy-sweater. Its really just a simple stockinette square in two colours all nicely seamed to fit his highly flexible body. No gauge required.. heheh

I think its still a darn cute first sweater. Everyone, "awww...."

Play Me a Song, Piano Man...

The boy's piano recital was awesome. He did two songs, a duet with his teacher Yankee Doodle and Flute Song. There were about 20 other students there all doing two songs, so, it was quite the concert!

Karen was so good with him! We're going to miss having her as his teacher. After 25 years, she's decided to retire. We can only hope his next teacher will be as patient as she was.

We made a evening of it. Both grandmas came over for supper (BBQ Roast on the rotisserie) and after the recital there was an assortment of food and beverages. We mingled for a while and got home about 9:30pm. When we got home we gave him his "graduation" present. A Nintendo Wii. Spoiled kid... We're just really proud of him.
